These five small oil-paintings were made in April and May of 2013, to be presented in the shop of Manifactura Gallery in Athens. They are quick experiments on naive portraiture and character design. They all represent small girls isolated from their environment. I try to create a frozen atmosphere that gives the viewer the feeling of something pending. They are all painted on printed, cotton fabrics apart from the girl in the blue bunny suit-which is probably my favourite in this group- that is painted on heavy, good quality, handmade paper. I especially enjoyed this process because, although the oil-colors dry almost instantly on the paper and thus it does not allow you to mix them on the canvas, it helps maintain their brilliance. It gave me a lot of ideas and I plan to make more works with these materials as soon as I complete some sculptural projects on which I am currently working on.
